Donna the Buffalo News & Rumors

November 2007

New Photos: Erie, PA 11/9/07
Donna the Buffalo first played in Erie, PA in 1995, and has performed at Erie's Forward Hall eight times since 1999. When the band plays a venue that often, it's because they like it, and shows there are bound to be good. DtB's most recent visit to Forward Hall in early November was true to form, with the band breaking out Rockin' In The Weary Land for the first time since 1/4/07 (Cafe Eleven, St. Augustine, FL), throwing in the seldom-heard Need You More and More, and encoring with Let Love Move Me. Sim Redmond filled in on bass for this show. Val Williams was there, and kindly provides seven photos of Donna the Buffalo performing at Forward Hall in Erie, PA on 11/9/07. Thanks, Val! Cast Your Vote For DtB's "Pre-NYE" Setlist!
As part of its planned Herd/Fan Appreciation Day, Donna the Buffalo is giving everyone a chance to vote for the songs they want to see the band perform on 12/30/07 at its "pre-New Year's Eve" show in Huntsville, AL. The votes have been pouring in, and you'd be surprised to see which songs are getting the most votes--and which ones aren't. If you haven't already done so, don't forget to vote for your favorites at www.donnafans.com/setlist.html. Deadline for voting is Thursday, 12/20/07. (posted 11/25/07)

Just Added: Photos From Rochester 11/16/07
Donna the Buffalo continued their "November to Remember" with their second stop of the year at the Water Street Music Hall in Rochester, NY on Friday, 11/16/07. The high-energy performance was notable in several regards. First, there was the sheer intensity of the band's playing. Then there was the song selection, which included several tunes not usually in the rotation, such as It's Just Me, There Must Be (by request), and Husbands and Wives (also by request, last performed 6/17/05). And finally, thanks to the tireless efforts of a few dedicated Herd members, audio of the entire show was webcast at www.haveyouheardradio.com, complete with a chat room so those not in Rochester could hang out together while listening to the show. Karen Landau was one of the lucky ones who was actually at this gig, and she shares with us six photos of DtB playing on 11/16/07 at the Water Street Music Hall in Rochester, NY. Thanks, Karen! New Review: 11/17/07 New York, NY
Donna the Buffalo had quite a weekend in mid-Nov. First, on Friday, 11/16, the band returned to one of its favorite venues, Water Street Music Hall in Rochester, NY for a strong performance that included a version of Husbands and Wives (last played 6/17/05). Audio from this show was webcast over www.haveyouheardradio.com. The next night, the band came to the Highline Ballroom in NYC to headline a benefit for the Rex Foundation that included sets by David Gans and Ollabelle. Highlights included the mid-set trio of Conscious Evolution, Blue Sky, and These Are Better Days, plus a long, beautiful version of Mystic Water that Jeb and Tara performed as a duet at the start of the encore. I've posted a short review of the 11/17 show in New York, NY, and hope to have photos of both shows posted soon. (posted 11/18/07)

Just Added: Photos From MagFest
John Yust is the type of person you can rely on to have his camera ready anytime Donna the Buffalo hits the stage, and the band's recent appearance at Magnolia Festival was no exception. John photographed all of DtB's sets at this fest, and we'll start by sharing a dozen photos of Donna the Buffalo playing on Saturday, 10/27 in Live Oak, FL. The band started this afternoon set by launching right into Funkyside, and rolled through six more tunes before playing Push Comes to Shove. Then, after a 5-minute break, they picked it up again, backing country artist and longtime musical friend Jim Lauderdale for a set consisting mainly of songs from the 2003 CD Wait Til Spring, which Lauderdale and DtB did together. Thanks, John! (posted 11/3/07)
