Donna the Buffalo News & Rumors
Tara's Working On A Documentary On Carlton Frank On 3/22/05, in an interview with KRVS 88.7 FM in Lafayette, LA Tara said she's been working on a documentary, to be called "Oh Mom," about Creole fiddler Carlton Frank (Preston's Frank uncle), who passed away on 2/5/05 at age 74. She said the trailer and most of the footage have been shot, but didn't mention when or where it would be released. In the same interview, which you can listen to at www.tnjd.net, Tara confirmed that the release date for Donna the Buffalo's new CD, Life's A Ride, will be 4/26/05, "just in time for Merlefest." The band was in Lafayette to perform a show at the Grant Street Dancehall on 3/22 that was also going to feature the Red Stick Ramblers and Keith Frank. Robert Chrismer's images include several nice close-ups of individual band members, plus a group shot that I messed around with in Photoshop. John Yust's photos include several shots of what's no longer a rare occurence at a Donna show: Bill Reynolds singing. Thanks, guys, for the continued use of your Donna photos--this site wouldn't be much without them. (posted 3/8/05) Just Added: Photos From Huntsville, AL & Nashville, TN John Yust attended many of the shows on Donna the Buffalo's recent Ville tour of the southeast, and DonnaFans.com is privileged to host more of his photos from that run. Today I added a handful of John's shots from 2/20/05 Crossroads Cafe, Huntsville, AL. Two nights later, John was often in the right place at the right time during the band's show at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN, where Jim Lauderdale lent a helping hand. Rumor has it that Jeb wasn't feeling well that night in Nashville, but you'd never guess it from looking at these photos. Next I'll be adding photos of 2/25/05 Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA. Thanks, John! (posted 3/5/05) New Tour Dates Announced Donna the Buffalo has added several cities to its tour schedule recently. These include shows in early April in Winooski, VT and Troy, NY; two dates in late April opening for Bob Weir's band, Ratdog, and performances in May in St. Petersburg, FL, New York, NY, and Baltimore, MD. Of course this is in addition to all previously announced shows and festival appearances, including the much-anticipated five-night run in Colorado in mid-March. As always, the best source for information on where and when the band will be playing is the tour dates page of the official site, DonnaTheBuffalo.com. (posted 3/5/05) More Photos From Winston-Salem, Asheville First-time DonnaFans.com contributor Jo Vorwald-Moss took some greats photos of Donna the Buffalo's recent concerts in North Carolina, including great shots of Jeb doing the bobblehead thing at the 2/18/05 show at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem, and a fantastic series of Bill singing Part-Time Lover on 2/19/05 at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. Thanks for the images, Jo, and hope to see more from you in the future. Up next: Photos from 2/20/05 Huntsville, AL, 2/22/05 Nashville, TN, and 2/25/05 Atlanta, GA, courtesy of John Yust.
