Donna the Buffalo News & Rumors

January 2005

Tired of Looking at Photos from the FL Shows? Me, neither. So I added 17 of Phil Ross' shots from the Key West run, which include some nice shots of Jim Lauderdale, and two dozen of his images from the 1/1/05 Ft. Lauderdale performance, including two photos of the special uninvited guest who joined the band onstage (the look on Bill's face is priceless). Thank you, Phil, for sharing your images of these important shows. DonnaFans.com now has a total of 61 photos from Key West and 42 from Ft. Lauderdale. (posted 1/27/05)

Just Added: A Raleigh Review & More KW photos John Gibson really pays attention when he sees Donna perform, and you can now read his detailed description of the 1/15/05 show at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, NC. This photo from that show (right) is just one of several of Terry Killebrew's photos from that night, with more to be posted soon. And no fewer than two dozen of John Yust's images from the Key West run are also now available for your viewing pleasure. Thanks to all who have contributed words and photos to DonnaFans.com lately, and please keep em coming: fans@donnafans.com. (posted 1/24/05)

Jim Miller Quits Donna the Buffalo Jim Miller has left Donna the Buffalo. His last performance with the band was 1/1/05 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The band does not plan to replace him, and will be moving forward as planned. The next show will be on February 17 in Charlottesville, VA, followed by shows throughout the southeast through the end of February. See the tour dates page on the band's official site for details. (posted 1/21/05)

How's Donna Sound Without Jim Miller? Judge for yourself--thanks to a very kind and quick taper, the band's 1/15/05 performance at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, NC is already available for download from Live Music Archive. Thank you, Joel from JamLive.org!! (posted 1/19/05)

More Ft. Lauderdale Photos Are Available John Yust's photos from the 1/1/05 show in Ft. Lauderdale have been added. John has also very generously offered me use of his Key West images, which included Bill playing standup bass during the acoustic set, Jordy on rubboard, JT on rubboard, and the debut of Don't Go Down. I'll be adding them to DonnaFans.com over the weekend. (posted 1/19/05)

First Batch of Ft. Lauderdale Photos Are Up Randy Cooper graciously granted me permission to host on this site some of his most excellent photos from the 1/1/05 show in Ft. Lauderdale. I'll soon be adding two more fans' photos of this show, plus two more groups of Key West images that include shots of Jeb debuting Don't Go Down with a little help from the Herd. Got photos or reviews you want to see here? Email me: fans@donnafans.com. (posted 1/17/05)

Just Added: Photos From Key West Thanks to some quick members of the Herd, you can now see photos from DtB's weeklong gig at The Schooner Wharf in Key West, FL, which ended 1/8/05. Thanks to Chris Miller and Robert Chrismer for the photos; those of us who weren't at these shows really appreciate it. If you've got photos or reviews of this special week or any of the January shows you'd like added to this site, email me: fans@donnafans.com. (posted 1/16/05)

New Jeb Tune Debuts in Key West DtB played "Don't Go Down," a song written by Jeb Puryear, for the first time as the encore on Friday, 1/7/05 at The Schooner Wharf in Key West, FL. It was performed that night as a duet by Jeb and Jim Lauderdale. It was also the last song the band performed the next night to close out their Key West run, and the next-to-last song played at the Social in Orlando, FL on 1/11. Thanks to Donnabase.com, you can find the unofficial lyrics here. (posted 1/12/05)

Key West Shows Are Being Webcast! You can (sorta) see DtB's 7-night run at The Schooner Wharf Bar in Key West live as it happens via the bar's web cam, which is on 24 hours/day and is now, thanks to some alert Herd, pointed at the stage instead of the audience. It's at www.schoonerwharf.com/webcam.htm. If you're viewing it with Windows Media Player, right-click anywhere on the player, and pick Zoom > Full Screen. It's the next best thing to being there. Kinda. (posted 1/4/05)

New photos: 12/11/04 Northampton, MA
A half dozen images from the December 11 benefit for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts have been added to this page of the Photo section. It ain't often you get to see Donna perform in a theater, so have a look, and see if you can guess which photo I call "Why unrestricted access to Photoshop is a bad idea." Reviews of this show and the Amenia show to follow.

New photos: Amenia, NY 12/9/04
More than two dozen photos from the December 9 show in Amenia, NY have been added to this page of the Photo section. A small crowd and mellow venue meant I could stand on the rail and take photos all night long. Don't miss the shot of Bill singing a verse of Part Time Lover, and the special guest in the audience.

Good Times for a Good Cause
The December 11 "Bread and Jam" show at the John M. Greene Hall, Smith College, in Northampton, MA successfully raised money and awareness for the Food Bank of Western Mass. Donna headlined a show that include local pop band Winterpills and blues act The Holmes Brothers. The night also included raffles for cool merchandise like a handcrafted Buffalo box that was signed by the band. Helen Harrison of the Food Bank also had some very kind words for both the band and the herd in her dedication to Liz O'Brien. Look for a full review and photos from this show soon.
