Just Added: Photos From 7/8/11 Rochester, NY

In between two of their biggest festival gigs of July—Great Blue Heron in Sherman, NY and GrassRoots in Trumansburg, NY—Donna the Buffalo played a handful of shows, including a return to the Public Market in Rochester, NY. Longtime DonnaFans.com contributor Greg Cotterill was at this show, and generously provides us with 13 photos of DtB performing on 7/8/11 in Rochester, NY. Greg's professional-quality images feature some great candid shots, like this one of Kyle and Tara (right), plus a few of drummer Mark Raudabaugh, who is relatively new to the band. The band played a varied set that opened with Funky Side and also included Corn Bread, Sailing, No Reason Why, Each & Every Direction, a cover of Bob Marley's Stir It Up, and Me & Depression. Thanks so much for the photos, Greg! (posted 7/25/11)

Jim Miller Sits In With DtB At GrassRoots!

On Thursday, 7/21/11, former Donna the Buffalo guitarist Jim Miller joined DtB on tambourine and background vocals for a version of If You Only Could. Major thanks to Jenny Klass for the photo! Much more coverage of this set and the entire festival will follow. (posted 7/21/11)

DtB's GrassRoots Sets Will Be Webcast!

Thanks to Herd.tv and the Vest Brothers, Donna the Buffalo's sets from this week's GrassRoots Festival in Trumansburg, NY will be webcast on http://webcast.herd.tv. Most likely the fun will start with DtB's performance on Thursday, 7/21, which is scheduled to begin at 7 pm eastern time. Check the GrassRoots Festival schedule for the days and times of the band's other sets. In addition to DtB, this webcast may include other bands, so check Herd.tv often. First Photos: Great Blue Heron Festival, Sherman, NY

Every July, Donna the Buffalo plays two of the festivals many fans call their favorites within a few weeks of each other, both in the band's home state of New York. The first of these is always the Great Blue Heron Festival, which this year took place 7/1 through 7/3. Larry Franklin attended this year's Great Blue Heron, and shares with us 12 photos of DtB performing on 7/1 through 7/3 in Sherman, NY. This year's fest featured the band doing a late-night set in the dance tent, a Jeb Puryear and Tara Nevins duet set on Saturday afternoon, a set of DtB on Saturday night, and DtB and friends, who this year included members of the Hindu Cowboys and Ritchie Stearns, to close the party on Sunday. "The dance tent rocked 'til dawn Saturday with what they called Zydeco Experiment (it was Donna The Buffalo all on all their regular instruments), and Saturday nite/Sunday Jeb & Tara joined The New Alien String Band," Larry said."I do have to say, it was once again the best Great Blue Heron. I don't know how they keep getting better, I just can't imagine it getting better after every festival there, but that seems to happen, at least for us." Thanks so much for your words and photos, Larry! (posted 7/9/11)
