First Report From Suwannee Springfest!

On Saturday, 3/26/11, Donna the Buffalo performed the first of two sets at their annual appearance at the Suwannee Springfest in Live Oak, FL. The band's early-evening set included a performance of as-yet-untitled Jeb Puryear song that some have called Mystery of Love, as well as a bevy of classics, including It's Love Time, Beauty Within, Tonight, Tomorrow, and Yesterday, No Reason Why, Part Time Lover, Front Porch, West Virginia Rastafari, Silverlined, Blue Skies and Buttercups, Family Picture, and Conscious Evolution. Thanks to John Yust for the setlist. DtB will close the Suwannee Springfest tonight, Sunday 3/27/11, with their traditional marathon all-star jam. Check back soon for photos. (posted 3/27/11)

Tara's New CD Will Be Released In Early May

Tara Nevins' new solo CD, Wood and Stone, will be released by Sugar Hill Records on 5/3/2011. Wood and Stone was produced by Larry Campbell, who also performs on the CD. Perhaps best known as a member of Bob Dylan's band from 1997 to 2004, Campbell is an accomplished producer whose credits include Levon Helm's two Grammy-winning albums, Dirt Farmer and Electric Dirt. Longtime Donna the Buffalo collaborator Jim Lauderdale joins Tara on this CD for the Nevins original Snowbird; for a video of Jeb Puryear and Tara performing this tune at Shakori last October, check out burskee59's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYl5nUYa-mk. Other guests include Allison Moorer and Teresa Williams. Ten of the CD's 13 tunes are originals, such as the title track, Tennessee River, You've Got It All, and You're Still Driving That Truck. Covers include Stars Fell on Alabama and Van Morrison's The Beauty of the Days Gone By.
