More Photos From 2/11/11 Rochester, NY

Dedicated DonnaFans.com contributor John Miklasz was at Donna the Buffalo's recent show at Water Street Music Hall, and generously provides us with 11 photos of DtB performing on 2/11/11 at Rochester, NY. This night held particular significance for John: "I really enjoyed [this show] with my wife, Elizabeth, as we had first met at the DtB show at Water Street on 4/14/01 and have been together ever since," he explained. "We used to live in Rochester and always enjoy going back." As described below, the show was one for the ages, with inspired performances of many of the band's best-known tunes along with a healthy dose of newer songs. The gig was especially well-documented; in addition to John's photos and Karen Landau's photos, this show also was webcast live and taped; Gene Martin's recoding is available at http://www.archive.org/details/donna2011-02-11.donna2011-02-11matrix.flac. Thank you for the photos, John! (posted 2/26/11)

New Photos: 2/11/11 Water Street Music Hall, Rochester, NY

In mid-February, Donna the Buffalo did a series of 4 shows that on consecutive nights had them in Saranac Lake, NY; Albany, NY; Rochester, NY; and White River Junction, VT. Longtime DonnaFans.com contributor Karen Landau was at the next-to-last show of this run and kindly shares with us 9 photos of Donna the Buffalo playing on 2/11/11 at the Water Street Music Hall in Rochester, NY. On this night the band's set included It's Love Time, If You Only Could, Tonight, Tomorrow, and Yesterday, Conscious Evolution, Love and Gasoline, Each and Every Direction, Funky Side, and No Place Like the Right Time. For the encore, first Jeb and Tara came out and performed Seems to Want to Hurt this Time, and then the entire band did Hot Tamale Baby into No Reason Why. Karen's photos include a shot of the Jeb/Tara duet, a few from Water Steet's famed balcony, and a few of the dedicated webcasting crew, who send this show out live on HaveYouHerd.com. You can download Gene Martin's outstanding recording of this show from the Live Music Archive at http://www.archive.org/details/donna2011-02-11.donna2011-02-11matrix.flac. Great Video Of Tara Doing Snow Bird At Lightning 100

In late January, Donna the Buffalo headed down to Tennessee for two shows in Nashville. On Wednesday, 1/26/11, Tara Nevins stopped by the studio of radio station Lightning 100 WRLT-FM 101.1 FM for an interview and performance. The station later posted a sweet video of Tara playing Snow Bird in their studio. The song will appear on Tara's upcoming solo CD (see below). (posted 2/5/11)

Tara Nevins' Solo CD Due Out In April; DtB To Start Recording Their Next Record

Tara Nevins' new solo CD, Wood and Stone, is scheduled for release in April. The record was produced in Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY by Larry Campbell, who also performs on the album, which is coming out on Sugar Hill Records. Tara wrote all but one of of the songs, which is a cover of a Van Morrsion tune. For more details, see Scott Preston's excellent interview with Tara on Cinncy Groove Magazine. In other news, Donna the Buffalo will head into the studio in Nashville, TN this month to start recording their next CD. The record will mimic DtB's infamous closing sets at the GrassRoots festivals by featuring the band's "greatest guests." To listen to Tara talk about both projects, check out this podcast on The Roanoke (VA) Times web site. (posted 2/3/11)
